The Personality Test
[ The short answer ]
The Personality Test is one of the most important stages of the ISSB selection process. Only candidates who qualify in the Intelligence Test (IQ) and the PPDT are eligible to take part, and it is conducted on the afternoon of the first day. Unlike a conventional examination, it follows free association: there are no right or wrong answers, only how honestly you respond.
The Personality Test differs considerably from conventional examinations. It consists of a series of standardized psychometric assessments designed to evaluate a candidate's personality, leadership potential, attitudes, and psychological characteristics. These assessments follow the principle of free association, where there are no predetermined right or wrong answers. Instead, the focus is on understanding how candidates think, perceive situations, and express their ideas in response to different stimuli.
The Personality Test is made up of several components, including the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Story Writing from Beginning Lines, Word Association Test (WAT), Sentence Completion Test (SCT), and Self-Description. In addition, candidates are required to write My Life and Memorable Incidents, both of which are based on their personal experiences and life events.
In these exercises, candidates are expected to present their experiences, thoughts, and feelings honestly and clearly. The more genuine, realistic, and natural a candidate's responses are, the more accurately their personality and psychological traits can be assessed. The My Life section may be written in either Bangla or English.
Before the commencement of each component of the Personality Test, clear instructions are provided to all candidates. It is the candidate's responsibility to listen carefully to these instructions and follow them accurately throughout the assessment.
