Group Discussion

[ The short answer ]

Group Discussion is an informal discussion. Such discussions are generally held among friends during casual conversations. However, this discussion is based on a specific topic and is inclusive. Group Discussion is usually conducted in two stages. The first stage is in Bangla, and the following stage is in English.

Before the Group Discussion begins, the Group Testing Officer explains the discussion topic. At this time, the candidates are given some instructions to follow.

Through the Group Discussion, candidates are generally assessed on their ability to present their own opinions and arguments, listen to others' opinions and counter their arguments, participate in a group, demonstrate self-confidence, and communicate effectively.

Before appearing at the ISSB, candidates may prepare themselves for the Group Discussion in several ways. For example, they may broaden their knowledge by studying various current and general topics. They may practise speaking fluently in both Bangla and English. They may develop the habit of presenting their opinions briefly and logically. They may cultivate the habit of listening attentively to the opinions of others during a discussion. They should also participate actively in the discussion with confidence.
