Command Task
[ The short answer ]
To become a commander, leadership qualities are essential. Therefore, the Command Task is one of the most important tests at the ISSB. In this test, every member of a group is given an opportunity to lead a small team for a short period of time.
When a candidate is appointed as the commander, the complete responsibility for successfully accomplishing the assigned task rests upon him or her. To accomplish the assigned task, the commander may select three members from the group as subordinates. The selected subordinates will provide assistance according to the commander's plan and requirements. Several helping materials are provided for carrying out the task. As in the Command Task, a heavy load generally has to be carried.
The commander must complete the task within a maximum of seven minutes. During this time, the commander is expected to make the necessary plan and complete the task with the assistance of the subordinates.
Just before the Command Task begins, the GTO will brief you about the task. Listen to the briefing very carefully and understand it properly.
The Command Task is generally completed by crossing a single stage. While working together, the rules and procedures must be followed correctly.
At this stage, the candidate's leadership ability, skill in giving clear instructions, creativity, and ability to motivate the team are assessed.
